10 Virgins ... 5 Prudent, 5 Foolish

Failure to recognize the 3 Glories and their individual details has resulted in incorrect rapture doctrine. Hopefully the 3 Glories chart will help untangle some doctrinal confusion. The Rapture, a generically agreed on word from the Latin, is a glory-specific event. The gathering of the elect is one of several wonderful things that God has in store for those he dearly loves. The elect are those who through trials and testing have developed and proven their obedience and fervent love unto Him.

The current, popular teaching is that all Christians will attain to the rapture.  But that's not what Jesus and Paul taught.  Jesus explained that the Holy Spirit-filled-believers who trimmed their lamps, would be accepted by the bridegroom (Matt. 25:1-13)  Remember to become a bride is to become family ... to be welcomed into the highest glory.

The other virgins ... the foolish ones ... misused their oil (Holy Spirit) and didn't make the rapture.  Contemporary theologians, not understanding the 3 divisions of the Kingdom, assume the foolish virgins to be unsaved people.  But the foolish virgins identify themselves otherwise:  "Our lamps are going out." (Matt. 25:8b)  Their lamps were still feebly burning ... In the process of going out ... and insufficiently lit to meet the bridegroom.  They clearly admitted that they had received the Holy Spirit at an earlier time.  Oil always represents the Holy Spirit.  The foolish virgins had not used the Holy Spirit invitation/empowering for it's fullest, intended purpose.

So, the rapture happened as predicted, and now the foolish virgins realize the truth; had they believed the report about the prize of the high invitation, and got serious about their Christian beliefs, life-style, and fervent love for God, they also would have been included in that select group.

But that's why God has so cleverly structured His Kingdom with 3 different glories; to accommodate the wide variety of response from mankind:

  • Rejection of God's offer of free salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ
  • Acceptance of God's offer, but rejection of further involvement.
  • Empowerment with the Holy Spirit, and the accompanying invitation to pursue God for His greatest reward.
  • Approval by God to enter into the highest glory wherein sons and daughters will joyously and everlastingly love, honor and worship Him, and experience pleasures forevermore.
