Gay Salvation

I keep hearing the running - debate: "can gay believers go to heaven if they continue their sexual lifestyle?"

As much as I applaud the efforts of all debaters, I must bluntly tell you that there can be no resolution outside of first understanding certain basics of God's Triple-Glory Kingdom.

There are several passages of scripture that are classically used to tell 'gay-people' that they must change their life-style or lose their salvation. And, on the surface and without knowing better, these passages do seem to be saying that certain conduct will cost you your salvation.

To understand the true message of these passages, we must first understand a few foundational truths about God's Triple-Glory Kingdom.

  • "The City" (Rev 21:2-22:15) is NOT the entirety of "heaven"
  • "The City" is a specific glory within the vast expanse of "heaven".
  • Those who 'wash their robes'...'the overcomers'...will enter into the Father's presence within the city, and therein also receive 'the inheritance'.
  • The majority of believers will not be given eternal reward within "The City", the subject verses describing some of the life-styles and attitudes that will disqualify them.

In light of these truths, let's review some of the subject passages. "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God." 1 Cor 6:9,10. "the acts of the sinful nature are obvious : sexual immorality,   impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage; selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." Gal 5:19 - 21. "He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death." Rev 2:11.  "He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels." Rev 3:5. "The City... Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life." Rev 21:23, 27. "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may go through the gates into The City. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood." Rev 22:14, 15.  "He who overcomes will inherit all this..." Rev 21:7.  "And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness..." Matt 25:30.

These passages make it very clear what the requirements are to attain to the Third-Glory (aka The City, the New Jerusalem, inheriting the Kingdom, the prize of the high invitation, election, approval, etc.). These passages do not refer to basic Outer-court salvation through Christ's substitutionary death.

But, having been denied entry into The City, they will still retain their basic salvation. Christ is able to save to the uttermost! However, compared to God's glorious full reward, the eternal reward of those who remain resistive to God's correction will be substantially less, and possibly even totally burned-away. 1 Cor 3:10-15.

Which leaves us with the final question: what will be the eternal abode of everyone who is denied entry into God's fabulous 3rd Glory? An easily answered question:

...the immense Outer Court, that can easily accommodate all those who believe in Jesus Christ as their savior, but choose to resist God's further truths, His Holy Spirit, and His scourging. (see Heb 12:5-8)

And, this is why I keep saying that God's Triple-Glory concept of Heaven is ingenious:  God, foreknowing the huge variation of response from mankind, has structured His Kingdom to accommodate all the various types of believers, and reward them accordingly.

CALVINISM

Calvinism (the concept that God chooses who will be saved, and who won't) is another example of single-glory eyesight. John Calvin recognized a fabulous truth. Various scriptures absolutely teach that God approves certain people. But those scriptures concern the entry-requirements of the 3rd Glory ONLY... not all of heaven.

Calvin’s mistake was that he didn't understand that there are 2 other Glories. Calvin would have us limit mankind’s potential eternal destiny to merely "election or hell." But, mankind has 4 potential landing places: hell, or any of the 3 Glories of Heaven. 1 plus 3 equals 4. Calvin only recognized 1 plus 1.

Consider these teachings:

  • Yeshua's parable of the Sower: total loss (1) vs. attaining / growing to one of the 3 Glories within the Kingdom.
  • Rev 22:11   wrong, vile, right, holy.
  • Moses Tabernacle: outside the Tabernacle where the garbage was burned-up, and the 3 positions of the Tabernacle.

In conclusion, 'the gay-salvation debate', and 'Calvinism' have a similarity. Both are man-made theological problems. Both resulted from failure to understand the 3 Glories of Heaven, and the entry requirement of each Glory.
